CROP IT SERIES : LACE CROP TOP

Wednesday, December 31, 2014

Hi loves.

Its the last day of the giveaway competiton, make sure you have given it a try.

It was not my intention to make this post on the last day of 2014, but I don't know what kind of person I would be if I didn't deliver something on the crop top series I promised before the year ends.

So here is the first of many more to come.

Three years down the line and crop top is still a staple item in anyone's closet. To my utmost joy, its 2015 and it seems they are here to stay. As I stated before, I have tens of crop tops in my collection. I just can't stop buying them, and I don't regret it because each of them is different and inspires me in its own way.

When I first talked about a crop top series. I had no idea what I would talk about, just knew that I have so many crop tops and they deserve a series of their own. So I decided to feature one crop top and different ways to wear it.

It starts with this lace crop top that I love so much.

Be patient because this post is very word-heavy.

Crop top & Denim short

This crop top is so fun to work with. I like to call it a body-con crop because it really clings to your curves. As a result it tends to be very short depending on how curvy you are especially in the bust area.

If you are curvier than I am, then I suggest that you go for a slightly longer one because it will get shorter once you wear it. However, it all depends on how much skin you want to show.

For me, it ends slightly below my bra-line and above my belly-button.

For my first look, I went with this blue, fringed denim short. These are quite easy to find. I got mine for Kshs 10 in Gikomba ( Thrifting at this price has made me quite the thrift addict). They range from Kshs 10-250, depending on which side of Gikomba you find them.

As you can see, my short was not a high waist, therefore I was showing lots of skin. Anyway, that was the intention because I wanted to try out a belly-chain [an idea I've been toying with for months].

For this look, I would wear these Brown strapped heels, but only if the day's activities don't involve too much movement.

However, I would go with cute sandals anytime for this outfit for a more fun but laid-back look. Sandals are more friendly with movement and always look chic if worn stylishly.

Crop top & Full skirt.

My second look with this crop top happens to be very decent.

Remember this skirt. Catch up on this post.

One of the things I love most about this skirt is the high waistline. It's the perfect one to wear a crop top decently, because not much skin is shown.

I decided to pair mine with these black 'ngomas'. You all know the reasons to my affair with black. However, the color choice was not mine because the shoes belong to mum, she ran into a shoe situation and bought these ones, and now she won't wear them anymore which kinda makes them mine. It was quite timely because I had plans to get white ones, but now that I think of it, I doubt I could have handled white ones well.

Anyway, throw on a pair of ankle strap heels, or just any heel and the look will be transformed into something more sophisticated.

To top it all, these are my two favorite colors [Fuchsia and Mint Green], it has been for a while now and I hope that doesn't change soon. So, to all my loved ones who might be confused about my colors at the moment, wonder no more...but lime green also works fine.

From the first look, its evident that the crop top is quite short. However, the skirt has a waist that covers my belly-button so I don't have to worry about showing so much skin. Actually, when am sanding still, it's all a neat finish and no skin shows.

The belly chain I have in the first look is multipurpose and it wouldn't feel right if I didn't talk about it in this post.

A few months ago I got a new hobby i.e. DIY accessories , and this chain from a clutch [most of you ladies probably own one and have no use for it] became very useful. The picture above summarizes three ways that I use it for. So unhook yours from the your clutch bag and have fun with it.

Crop Top - Thrifted.
Denim short - Gikomba.
Brown shoes - Thrifted.
Full skirt - Gikomba.
Black ngomas - Bata.

Be on the look out for more on the 'crop it series' soon.

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone.
See you in 2015. Be safe, cause I sure do need all of you in 2015.

Thanks for stopping by.
