Painting ideas info
Photos by Wangu and Debra

Hi muffins,

It's been a while but today I bring you a different post, mostly about Painting and DIY for interior Decor.

Ever looked at an empty wall / old chair / empty space  in your house and wondered what to do with it? Not because you can't get a 'painting' from the local vendors but because you want to give it character and a touch of your personality. However, interior design isn't so hard. Once you visit Wangus' blog, you'll realize how easy it is to glam up your room or house and exteriors with very basic items.

So, sometime last week Wangu of the Pinecone shelf blog reached out to me and several other people to tag along on her visit to the Crown Paints Show room. I have been following her blog for quite a while now and it's been such an inspiration.....to all the DIYers present you'll agree with me once you visit her Kenyan Interior Design Blog.

Before you go on and have a shoddy job done by the untrained painters we have out there, there are a few basics you should know about paints. With my shallow memory, I've managed to forget half the things Carol told us about Painting and paints in general. However, thanks to Wangu and her creative mind, we can all access the information through this well organised post. Head to her blog y'all and get some inspiration on how to make your house more customized.

Here is the Flow Chart Wangu made to start you off.

Do Enjoy!

The most interesting thing I learnt about paints is that there are several types of paints, not just Silk paint ( it's the most common one used on our walls and other surfaces in Kenya). There are other paints too. Decorative paints especially Ruff n Tuff, Elephant Skin and Metallic Paints  caught my attention.
Have you been to a room and wondered what kind of miracles they did with the walls and surfaces....it has happened to me so often. I always thought the wall was made specifically with a rough rock texture then normal paint was done. Turns out the miracle is decorative paints....there are several, each with a different effect.

Here is the Ruff n Tuff effect for example. Most of you have seen these effects coming up with modern apartments and other buildings lately in Nairobi. Wonder no more.

Head over to PINECONE SHELF or Crown Paints for more information on decorative paints.

Clearly everyone had much to learn about Paints. That's Wangu on the right in a Pink print dress.

Painting ideas - Lunch

Wangu does know how to keep everyone happy.....take them out on a field trip and buy them Pizza for Lunch.....she's the best.
Don't miss out on her next trip.

A much deserved selfie after lunch. Everyone is happy. That's Debbie at the front, she made sure the day was captured in as many Selfies as possible. Had a fun day with these lovely people, learnt a lot too.

That's it for today munchkins. I honestly hope this post has inspired you. Don't hold back with your creativity on your house projects.

Happy decorating.

Stay Safe, and do look out for a new post on Monday.

Much love,

Linet
