PRETTY LITTLE LEATHER SKIRT + PRINTS

Hi muffins,

I hope you have all been well.
It's amazing how, despite having a lot of free time of late I can't make a post in broad daylight, been up all night uploading the pics. It's always worth it though.

This may as well have been one of my favorite looks so far. I loved everything about it, from the leather skirt, the two prints, the thigh high socks and the vintage shoes.

Short  Long story about this skirt:
I got it off the street (it was so dusty I mistook it for brown) last year while going to the market for vegetables. For 100 Kshs (1 dollar) , you can imagine how elated I was, I was over the moon with excitement. I got home and all I could think about was fitting the skirt....you see where this is going. Well after a 5 min struggle I managed to get it to my waist and button up, but then I couldn't sit, leave alone breathe.
Normally when clothes don't fit me I sell them or give to my kid sister Makena, or my friend Janet. This time round, the only option was fit or fit.  We had been shopping with our house-help who is family to us, she was waiting so eagerly to see how it looked....so I went to the living room almost in tears saying "it won't fit".

She was so sympathetic and helped me come up with a solution..... how about we take it to the tailors and have some material added to the sides....all was not lost after all.
Long story short we went to the tailor (same day) and had this 'Leso' fabric with the yellow print added to the sides for 30 bob.

And voila, I had me a cute little leather skirt.

So where would I wear this to? If I were still in Uni I'd wear it to school...probably on a Friday when people are more understanding of why you are showing skin at all. I'd also wear it on weekends to meet up with friends and other daytime activities. I would definitely not advice wearing this in the nighttime, maybe the skirt paired with something else.

Have a nice read loves.

Paired the leather skirt with this bat arms, print top.
Of late am so into mixing up prints...these two worked well.
It's not everyone's cup of tea to mix up prints, but once in a while it's necessary to leave your comfort zone and experiment with your closet.

Added some thigh-high socks though I prefer wearing them slightly below the knee by folding them down. They helped me achieve the boot look without actual boots.

I got these shoes in Gikomba same day as these booties, for Kshs 50 (0.5 dollars). FYI, they are in perfect condition, no dents. They also have an oxford feel and some sheer material on the sides which really appealed to me.

Print top - Thrifted. Kshs 50
Leather Skirt - Thrifted. Kshs 130
Thigh-high socks - Gikomba. Kshs 40
Shoes - Gikomba. Kshs 50
Sunglasses -Stage Market. Kshs 100
Earrings - Dubois. Kshs 100

I just realized that this look sums up to less than Kshs 500 (5 dollars)....self certified thrift queen....yaaaaas!!!!!

I hope you had fun with this one muffins, I know I did.

All the best styling your prints....be fearless.

Have a great weekend ahead, feel free to comment below...I do read and appreciate each one of them.

Much love,

Linet.
